I am currently on a spilt dose with little relief and have monthly take outs and am scared to go any higher in fear that will have little effect I'm concerned that no matter how high I go on the clear liquid methadone is not going to improve relief and just create a higher tolerance

Switching to methadone in pill form can be tricky since methadone for opioid use disorder is tightly regulated in the U.S. It can only be dispensed through specially certified opioid treatment programs (OTPs) — not regular doctors or pharmacies. Not all clinics offer every form of methadone, so finding one that does may mean transferring to a different clinic.

Here are some steps that may help:

- Talk to your current clinic — Ask if they can refer you to a nearby OTP that offers methadone tablets, or if a transfer is possible
- Search SAMHSA's treatment locator at findtreatment.gov to find certified clinics near you and filter by services offered
- Call clinics directly to ask specifically whether they dispense methadone in tablet form, as this isn't always listed online
- Check insurance coverage before committing to a new clinic, since costs can vary significantly It's worth noting that methadone tablets and liquid are considered equally effective — the form is mostly a matter of clinic policy and individual preference. A new clinic will likely do a fresh intake assessment before starting or continuing treatment.

As always, looping in a healthcare provider familiar with your history is the safest way to make any changes to your treatment plan.
