How are you able to still use opiates if your in Suboxone ? It had a blocker in it so any opiates being taken you will get nothing out of it ?? I would say if your still having a struggle and wanting to use I would def try methadone . Suboxone helped me thankfully the only issue I have is that it ruined my teeth completely I had beautiful teeth went to dentist every ,6 months these Suboxone put fractures in all my teeth it looks like a straight line going down your tooth then the tooth weakens and breaks off where the fracture is I am on a class action lawsuit for this hopefully by the end of the year this year they will start paying out I suffered immensely from my teeth I've had abscess in 4 different teeth and 5 teeth missing now my front teeth have finally started to break off it had pute in such a deep depression I don't leave my apartment!! A dentist cannot fix a tooth with a fracture it has to be pulled so I hope everyone who has fractured teeth from Suboxone for an attorney like I did they never put warning info about this on Suboxone pamphlet nobody knew it ruined teeth so when they caught wind of it the manufacture they threw it on and damage was already done ..I hope I get enough money to get my teeth fixed I've been suffering for 6 years now !! So just hope methadone doesn't affect teeth make sure you ask because Suboxone def does hope your teeth are ok

Can you safely switch from Suboxone to methadone if it's not helping you stop using?

Yes, switching from Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) to methadone is possible and can be done safely under medical supervision. Many people find that methadone works better for them when buprenorphine isn't enough to control cravings or prevent use.

Methadone is a long-acting opioid medication that's been used for decades to treat opioid use disorder. It works differently than Suboxone by fully activating opioid receptors, which can provide stronger relief from cravings and withdrawal symptoms.

Research shows that methadone helps people:
* Reduce opioid use
* Lower the risk of overdose
* Stay in treatment longer

Some studies have found that people taking methadone were more likely to continue treatment compared to those on buprenorphine. However, switching requires careful planning with your healthcare provider. Because methadone is a full opioid agonist and Suboxone contains naloxone (which blocks opioids), your doctor will need to manage the transition to avoid withdrawal symptoms.

Methadone is given only in special clinics with close monitoring because it can be misused. You'll receive daily supervised doses initially, and your healthcare team will adjust the dosage based on how you respond.

It's important to talk openly with your provider about why Suboxone isn't working for you. They can help determine if methadone is the right next step or if other adjustments might help.
