No treatment yet, trying to ween myself off of it, down to half a dose a day, struggling somewhat but I’m ok, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, I just know that I’m sick of this ride and want to get off! HELP! thank you ❤️🙏
To qualify, I've just detoxed off of 11 yrs of methadone at 89 mg. It took 8 months.
Why do you want off . What has changed. Do you have support. These ? Are important. Nobody should tell you no don't. But you've got to be realistic with the outcomes. If your ready. Then I say go for it. Take your time, and let the program help you detox. I went down 2 mg a week. I halted 2 xs. I was successful
Good luck. Talk to your counselor. Get a plan. Get into action.
Sublocade injection. I believe you’re actually at a low enough dose right now that you can go get the sublocade injection. You then stop taking the subs all together, and the injection is basically subs still but it lasts 30 days and very very slowly metabolizes in your body over the 30 days so that you don’t have to take anything else ever again. I’m really surprised no one mentioned this. Once the 30 days is up, the sublocade injection has done its job and you are finally free! Be aware that you will most likely be left with post-acute withdrawal syndrome, as everyone is left with any time they taper off of a substance like opiates or opiate-antagonists. Pretty much just that feeling where you’re having a lot of trouble staying warm, or some joint aches etc etc. that will always have to just work its way out over time. Ask your doctor that prescribes your suboxene about the injection. If they don’t do it, I’m sure they can steer u in the right direction of someone who can. Good luck bud. You’re doing great!!! Cheers! Xoxo
@A MyOpioidRecoveryTeam Member half a dose a day is real progress. Hope others here will chime in with what worked for them. You might also want to connect with @A MyOpioidRecoveryTeam Member who has been in and out of Suboxone treatment and understands how rough the taper can feel, and @A MyOpioidRecoveryTeam Member who has asked questions about switching and tapering from long term medication use. Is there a specific part of the taper that’s feeling roughest right now?
All of it!
