Hi, what happens when you’re addicted to Suboxone? A doctor put me on it four years ago, I’m currently trying to get myself off of it by weening down the dose. The person prescribing it is NO HELP AT ALL! I took 2 pills a day until 3 months ago, down to one pill every day now and it’s rough!!! Any advice or any help would be greatly appreciated. The doctor that put me on it lied like hell to me and I was dumb enough to believe him! Nothing I can do now, anyway, nothing but love and hope for… read more

Members navigating Suboxone dependence came together around the shared frustration of feeling misled by doctors and the real challenges of tapering off the medication. Several members shared that slow, gradual tapering, including trimming tiny pieces off strips with a razor every few weeks, was more manageable than rushing the process, and one member celebrated reaching a half tablet daily with hopes of stopping soon. A recurring theme was the importance of listening to your body, not rushing the taper, and leaning on community support when medical providers fall short.

SteveT, starting last week I went to one half tablet per day, have had NO PROBLEM so far and I think I’m gonna start next week taking NOTHING! Yes! I’ll let you know how it goes but I believe that I’ve worked my way down very slowly to a point where I feel like I am FREE OF THIS DRUG! Once and for all!!!! Feels great I must say, FREE! I can’t say it enough!!! FREE!!!❤️🙏

I believe you will be successful and hope you don't rush the process. Slow is the way.

It's unfortunately common for doctors to not give us the whole picture on suboxzone withdrawal, when they first prescribe it. Being told " some people just walk away from it" was the biggest lie told to me. I've yet to meet a person that did easily walk away. Good advice I did get, from a compassionate nurse practitioner, was to trim a tiny piece off the strips with a razor every few weeks or however long you can tolerate lowering. That helped me get down low.
