I am on suboxone and I get drug tested by urine every 30 days. I’ve had 3 hair follicle tests over 5-6 months. The first one popped positive for opioids that I had taken about 2 months earlier, second was clean, I haven’t gotten the 3rd ones results back but it will be clean for anything I am not prescribed for. How can they continue to cut my hair out? I’m doing everything they ask and I have bald spots in my head now because the caseworker on my case doesn’t like me and refuses to answer me. I… read more

First, it's important to say — you are doing an incredible job. Staying on Suboxone, passing drug tests, and pushing through this process for your kids takes real strength. Two weeks left — you've got this.

On the hair follicle testing side, here's what's helpful to know:

- Hair tests can detect opioids for up to 90 days after last use
- Your first positive result likely reflected use from about 2 months prior, which is consistent with how hair testing works
- Once your 3rd result comes back clean, that builds a strong documented pattern of progress Regarding the caseworker situation and bald spots — that is a serious concern and you have every right to advocate for yourself. Here are some steps worth considering:

- Ask in writing (email or text) for clarification on the testing protocol so there's a paper trail
- Request a supervisor or ask to have your case reassigned if the caseworker is unresponsive
- Contact a family law attorney or legal aid in your area — many offer free consultations and can advise on your rights during a safety plan
- Document everything — dates, bald spots, unanswered messages

Your Suboxone prescription is a legitimate, prescribed medication. Make sure your caseworker and any reviewing authority knows this clearly, as it should not count against you. You are doing everything right. Clean tests, staying on your treatment plan, and fighting for your kids — that matters. Keep going. 💙
