Kansas, AL

Where can I find a Doctor that would work with me? I live in the Kansas City Kansas area.
I am currently on Buprenorphine 8mg/ Naloxone 4 times a day. Maybe this can help me reduce the amount I am taking and possibly help me to stop taking it all together.
Any chance one of these Dr. Work at the VA in Leavenworth, or Kansas City MO.?

@A MyOpioidRecoveryTeam Member really glad the AI gave you some starting points. The VA in Leavenworth or Kansas City MO would be worth calling directly to ask about their substance use disorder programs. Others here who have navigated VA care for OUD may also have helpful firsthand experience to share. Hope you find the right fit soon!

Not entirely sure but feel free to start with SAMHSA’s treatment locator at findtreatment.gov or calling their helpline at (Phone number can only be seen by the question and answer creators). - Your current prescribing doctor β€” ask for a referral to an addiction medicine specialist
- Local opioid treatment centers β€” some specialists work specifically out of these clinics
- Primary care providers β€” many are now trained to prescribe and manage medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD)
- Telehealth options β€” buprenorphine can also be managed through virtual visits, which expands your choices Regarding tapering down or eventually stopping buprenorphine/naloxone β€” that's a completely valid goal and one worth discussing openly with a provider. The key thing to know is that stopping too quickly can bring on withdrawal symptoms and raise the risk of relapse.

A good specialist will help create a gradual tapering plan when the time feels right, based on how stable and ready you feel. There's no rush, and going at the right pace makes a big difference in long-term success.

Recovery is a journey, not a race β€” and having the right doctor by your side makes all the difference! πŸ’ͺ
